TARJA TURUNEN: THE BRIGHTEST VOID CD
After Tarja Turunen left Nightwish around ten years ago and began her solo career, she has already released five successful studio albums.
To shorten the wait for album number six for her fans, the Finnish soprano and songwriter came up with something very special in 2016: an album in advance. "The Brightest Void" is the name of the nine-song foretaste of "The Shadow Self", which will be released on August 5 this year.
According to Turunen, the reason for this was that she simply had too many songs for just one album. So the singer simply turned it into two albums that stand completely on their own but still belong together.

The first single, "No Bitter End", was released in April 2016 and makes it clear what to expect on the new album: the best symphonic metal and rock with massive guitar riffs and driving drums. As a result, "The Brightest Void" is heavier than its predecessors - even if Tarja's angelic voice is of course omnipresent.
The singer is supported on the record by Finnish glam rock icon Michael Monroe, Dutch band Within Temptation and none other than Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.
In addition to many of their own songs, two cover versions have also made it onto "The Brightest Void", namely Shirley Bassey's James Bond theme tune "Goldfinger" and Paul McCartney's "House Of Wax".
