Truly legendary

Sabaton, probably the most successful power metal band of our time, is back. Their new album is entitled "Legends" and despite five top 10 successes and even two first places in a row, the Swedes are not referring to themselves.

Instead, the quintet around singer Joakim Brodén tells the legendary stories of numerous great personalities from antiquity and the Middle Ages in the eleven new songs. These include truly legendary figures such as Joan of Arc ("Maid Of Steel"), Napoleon Bonaparte ("Crossing The Rubicon"), Genghis Khan ("Hordes Of Khan") or the Japanese sword master Miyamoto Musashi, who is honored in "The Duelist".

With this concept, Sabaton are saying goodbye to their otherwise beloved world war themes for the time being. Even though their last two concept albums "The Great War" and "The War To End All Wars" topped the German charts as well as the Swedish charts for the first time.

Apart from the lyrical reorientation, the band remains largely true to their successful formula on "Legends". Sabaton's eleventh album also impresses with catchy mid-tempo bangers, epic keyboard pads and guitar art at the very highest level. You can also clearly hear that 20 years after Sabaton's debut, all five band members had a hand in the songwriting for the first time.
